I believe in the ability of abstract forms to convey unconscious psychological content. I work intuitively with traditional materials like wood, paint, canvas, and cloth, building paintings like bodies, integrating the stretched and sewn surfaces with their supports. I am attuned to contradictions- black and white, blurred and sharp, torn and cut. My palette is likewise contrasting- I am attracted to harsh colors like fluorescent reds, acidic greens, and lurid purples. My presence is expressed in my work through the tactile and perceptual qualities of the materials I use.
